It's Your Heritage

This is your heritage: clean water, blue skies, vast vistas, rolling native grasslands, cowboys, cattle and wildlife. And then the mountains; majestic backbone of North America. It has attracted and sustained Albertans and Native Peoples for generations but it's threatened.

The native grasses of the Pekisko Lands protect the watersheds of Southern Alberta, capture more carbon than a forest, nurture more wildlife than the national parks, attract tourists and provide a backdrop to Calgary. It's a place where legends begin.

It's all about choices.    The oil and gas industry wants to explore and drill these lands for short-term gain. That means roads, pipelines, flares, trucks, compressors; all cutting up the grasslands. And this native grassland is a heritage that cannot be effectively restored.

The Pekisko Group is not against the oil and gas industry. We recognize the value of this important industry to Alberta, and understand that oil and gas drives the world economy, heats our homes and fuels our vehicles. At the same time we need to ensure that this type of industrial development doesn't destroy our watersheds, scenic vistas, recreation areas, ranching communities, and other benefits that the Pekisko Rangeland provides.

There's another choice and it's about long-term gain for all of us. And we need your help to make it happen. One very helpful action is writing to your elected representative in Edmonton. You can use one of our pre-written letters or one of your own. Make your opinion known!
